Worth Avenue in the Town of Palm Beach

The short answer

Worth Avenue is the Town of Palm Beach's famous shopping street: three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway, per the Worth Avenue Association, with courtyard vias such as Via Mizner and Via Amore. Town meters run 9 AM to 5 PM through ParkMobile at $5 an hour in most spaces, walking tours run Wednesdays from November 4, and the tree lighting is Tuesday, December 1, 2026.

Worth Avenue is the shopping street of the Town of Palm Beach, on the island, and the answer to “What is the famous street in Palm Beach?” The Worth Avenue Association says it spans just three blocks, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway. This page walks it block by block, names the vias the Association lists, tells its history as primary sources tell it, and sets out the Town’s parking numbers. We checked everything on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The street, block by block

The Association counts three blocks. The addresses we can source sit on the 100 and 200 blocks and on the cross streets: the Town lists One Parking at The Esplanade at 150 Worth Ave, on the 100 block where the tree-lighting parade begins, and the Association’s office is at 256 Worth Avenue, where its walking tours start in Via Amore. The Town places Midtown Municipal Beach north of Worth Avenue in the 300 block of South Ocean Boulevard, and its FAQ says Worth Avenue is just a block south of the Peruvian Docks.

The vias

The vias are small courtyard lanes off the main street. The Association says Worth Avenue was shaped from its earliest days by Addison Mizner’s Mediterranean Revival architecture, with quiet courtyards and vias. Its online directory has a category called The Vias, with listings on Via Mizner, Via Parigi, Via Amore and Via Bice. Those are the four we name. The Association publishes no count or full list of the vias, so we do not give one. Via Amore is also where the Association’s walking tour meets, at 256 Worth Avenue.

Mizner, the Everglades Club and the Association

The Preservation Foundation’s timeline says the Everglades Club, designed by Addison Mizner, opened on Worth Avenue in 1919. The Worth Avenue Association gives 1918. We show both rather than pick one. The Association itself is a not-for-profit formed in 1938 to promote, preserve and enhance the Worth Avenue business district, and it lists the Holiday Tree Lighting, seasonal shopping events, historical walking tours, beach clean ups and parking validation booklets among its activities.

The Town’s key dates add one modern line: “2010: Worth Avenue restored.” No primary page we read describes that work or the street’s clock tower in any detail, so we give no height, cost or completion date. The longer story is on our history page.

Walking tours and the tree lighting

The Association runs a 75-minute historical walking tour every Wednesday from November 4, 2026 to May 5, 2027, starting at 10:30 am in Via Amore, 256 Worth Avenue. It costs $30 per person and needs an Eventbrite ticket. The Association says the tour runs rain or shine, is limited to 40 people, covers about three quarters of a mile and is wheelchair accessible with no steps; weather changes are announced by 9:30am on tour day.

The Holiday Tree Lighting is Tuesday, December 1, 2026. The Association says Santa and his elves begin the parade at 6:10 pm on the 100 block of Worth Avenue and Santa lights the tree at 6:25 pm. It is the Association’s event; the Town’s calendar shows no Town tree lighting. Every dated event is in the What’s on this date? checker.

  • The Town Events calendar for October 21, 2026 to May 31, 2027 shows no Town tree lighting, Veterans Day ceremony or Memorial Day ceremony; it shows Town Hall closures on those holidays and America 250 (Nov 14) and Public Safety and Family Fun Day (Feb 20). Parking on and near Worth Avenue

The Town’s blue-sign spaces are ParkMobile paid parking; green signs mark Resident Parking Permit spaces for residents of that block only. Pay by app, by phone at 877-727-5714, at parkmobile.io or by texting PARK to 77223. No paper ticket goes on the dashboard: the Town says officers verify sessions electronically by license plate.

The parking picker ranks options by where you are going.
